The National Oceanography Centre has six corporate values; Excellence, Innovative Thinking, Empowerment, Environmental Responsibility, Integrity and Working In Partnership. The shared values were reached through wide discussion and guide what we do, how we do it and the decisions we make.
The values are used extensively throughout the NOC’s communications, both internally and externally in print, signage and video, so it is vital that they are distinctive in their appearance but always feel fresh and exciting.
To enhance the values, I gave the icons a slight update in 2020. The new icons are based on the original icons which were designed before I joined but were simplified in places, rebalanced throughout to be much bolder and given a new expanded colour palette. The new colours are part of a wider effort in the NOC to introduce more accessible design, these new colours come in three shades for different applications.
